Friday Flocknote :: April 30, 2021
Dear St. Rose family,
I hope you are finding a prayer routine that works for you. Don't worry if you miss a day or two. Just keep trying to be intentional and find Jesus in your day—however that looks for you.
It's easy to get focused on negative things in our lives; what's going wrong, negative comments and the like. Don't let that be the whole story for you. Take time to be still and quiet to find Jesus and discern what's truly going on in your life. The negative can blind us to what Jesus is doing for us. What a great sorrow it would be to miss the joy of God's holy presence in our life because we were too focused on the distractions.
Make prayer the cornerstone of your day and I promise you will see changes. Ask for the strength to dismiss negative distractions more readily and you'll start to see your life in a whole new way.
God bless you all,
FIRST WEDNESDAY PRAISE & WORSHIP
Join us under the Covered Structure next
Wednesday, May 5 at 6pm
, for another praise and worship sing-a-long. Bring a chair and a mask; music sheets will be provided. We'll have more musicians joining in this month and look forward to your voices!
Please be sure to maintain proper physical distancing from those who are not part of your family group. Masks must be worn during all church and school functions.
WITH A ST. ROSE TWIST
This year as part of our school's Earth Day reflection and celebration, students learned about nests as habitats. They went on to collect recycled materials and create
over 200 nests
that now adorn the St. Rose School halls! See if you can find all of the different ways the kids incorporated roses into their pieces—a gentle nod to our patroness whose birthday was last Tuesday.
6' DISTANCING and MASK WEARING MUST BE MAINTAINED
Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in Oregon, Governor Kate Brown recently announced
to county risk levels under the state’s public health framework. Multnomah County has been moved to "extreme risk."
Questions about distancing have arisen since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued updated guidelines (March 19) recommending all K-12 students remain at least 3 feet apart in classrooms where mask use is universal. The 3-foot recommendation applies to K-12 students in classrooms only.
Per state law and Archbishop Sample's directive, churches must continue to maintain 6 feet of distance between households/individuals during Masses and faith gatherings. All who are 5 years and up must wear face coverings in church. Those with medical conditions preventing use of face coverings should contact the
to discuss accommodations.

FIRST COMMUNION AT 8:30 and 10:30 MASS ON MAY 16 :: LIMITED SPACE
First Communicants and their families will occupy the church, with others overflowing into the gym and cafeteria satellites.
e kindly ask that other parishioners attend Saturday Mass or understand that they will be seated in one of our satellite locations
Thank you for your grace and please pray for these youth as they prepare to meet Jesus in the Eucharist!
MASS SIGNUP DISCONTINUED
Beginning in May we will no longer be using SignUp Genius to sign up for Mass. We will continue maintaining the 6’ physical distancing, wearing masks and sanitizing surfaces. We have multiple satellite locations on weekends to accommodate those wanting to attend Mass. Please continue entering the church at the ramp/double door entry point. Our greeters will assist with seating in the church and then the satellites, if needed.
PARKING LOT ADORATION—On Hold
Effective immediately, we are pausing Parking Lot Adoration on Friday nights.
With longer, brighter evenings upon us, it is becoming more challenging to see Jesus in the second floor window without the contrast of the night sky. Recreational activity in the parking lot is going later into the evening as summer draws near as well, making it difficult to maintain a reverent setting.
In the fall, we will reassess to see if there is still a need and enough interest to reintroduce Parking Lot Adoration. Our great hope is that indoor Adoration will replace it as we work our way out of the pandemic.
NO DAILY MASS or CONFESSION—May 5-7
Due to the convocation mentioned above, Fr. Matt (and nearly every priest in the Archdiocese!) will be unavailable, so there will be no daily Mass or confession on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that week.
ST. PEREGRINE FEAST DAY CELEBRATION
On May 2 and in celebration of St. Peregrine's Feast Day there will be a first class relic available for veneration at St. Irene Byzantine Catholic Church in Portland. See
for more information.
